Our English as a Foreign Language team is currently engaged in teaching English to a group of recently recruited Chinese software engineers, and their UK employer has been so impressed by Mammalingua’s performance in this that they have commissioned us to assist UK nationals to improve their business communications skills. We will turn our hand to any language related task.
Our teaching process is designed to meet the precise needs of the business, and takes due account of the business language learning group in terms of their existing language skills, and the pace at which they are most comfortable learning.
The Mammalingua business language training process is as follows:
Step 1 Our Education Director meets with the client to explain how we work, to identify the learners’ aims, linguistic background and special requirements and advises on the most effective teaching process, including the frequency of lessons
Step 2 The Education Director draws up a requirements analysis, and assignment specification and agrees this with the client
Step 3 We identify the most suitable business language tutor for the assignment, and brief the business language tutor accordingly
Step 4 During the first business language tuition session, the business language tutor carries out a further assessment of the group’s median skill and experience level and draws up a teaching plan.
Step 5 During the second learning session, the client is advised of any course material which may enhance the learning process
A flexible approach is the norm, so that the learning process is always geared towards the scenario in which the company expects their employees to use the target language; typically corporate staff should be able to conduct negotiations, interact with customers, suppliers or overseas colleagues, socialise with their contacts and arrange accommodation, transport and subsistence for themselves.
In keeping with best practice in higher education, our quality assurance process requires business language tutors to keep clear records showing the progress of each learner against their individual teaching plan. Our senior staff regularly liaise with business language tutors and client representatives for progress reviews, and as a result of such reviews, modifications may be made to the level, content or pace of teaching. This reflects the Mammalingua philosophy of maintaining a flexible approach geared to the needs of the client.
